We are finished with the kitchen!
Here is a breakdown on the kitchen renovation
The renovation took us about 3 months.
Cost of supplies over the past year and two months: $2,783.42 {This money was spent on supplies needed for the kitchen remodel since the day we moved in}
We purchased most of our supplies from Lowes, Sutherlands and Home Depot.
The laminate floors, counter tops, back splash, paint, stools, garbage cans, fridge, stove, cabinet door pulls, chandelier and wallpaper are from Lowes. Trim, molding and plumbing supplies are from Sutherlands as well as Home Depot.
A close family friend of ours helped install the flooring, custom counter tops and back splash.
We added a sheet of bead board wallpaper to the front of each cabinet for a finished look. We were both skeptical with the wall paper, but it worked so well and looks great! Before adding the wallpaper, each cabinet got a about 2-3 coats of Kilz primer, and then 2-3 coats of glossy white paint. The Kilz was a must on the cabinet project because the cabinets have a vinyl/wood veener. The cabinets were the most tideous part of this project because of the time it took to paint them and let them dry. {We still have lots of touch ups. It's hard keeping white clean!} We also spray painted the hinges to the cabinets a brushed nickel to match the handles.
The green color on the wall is Gentle Pasture from Valspar at Lowes. It's a really pretty green and goes really well with the white cabinets.
We tore up two layers of laminate, laid down a layer of underlayment and started laying the floor. It snaps together and took about 2 days to finish.
The subway tile back splash is one of my favorites in the kitchen. It's so fresh and clean! I love it!
I thought bringing in the subway tile would be too much white, but I really think it looks good.
We removed our old counter tops, and sink and replaced them with a laminate counter top that looks close to granite. It's really nice. The counter top around the sink was purchased in a 10' length and cut to size, and the island piece was made with a sheet of laminate.
The laundry room is a huge improvement. If you look at the before pictures, we used to have a sliding glass door to separate the kitchen and laundry room. Last summer, one of the doors to the sliding door shattered. For months, we left the remaining door unattended. It bothered me every day, but my dream came true and we removed the lonely door! It opens up the space so much and adds more square footage to our house. We also knocked down the small wall in the laundry room. It was such a waste of space. Funny thing is, we never thought of knocking down the wall until the day we did it. My mom mentioned knocking it down, and the next thing I know it's gone!
The hideous blue carpet was torn up in the laundry room, we laid down peel and stick laminate tile, primed the walls with Kilz and glossy white paint, and new trim around the door and floor boards.

Janell, this looks amazing! It's a night and day difference. I love what you did with the cupboards, countertops and floor. When are we going to get the details of everything - (what you used for what) ??
